MISSISSIPPI SOUND ESTUARY PROGRAM REGIONAL VALUE ADDED PROFILE

From the economic model of the Mississippi Sound Estuary Program (MSEP) region built in IMPLAN cloud (https://implan.com/), the regional value added profile was developed.

The MSEP region consists of 36 Mississippi counties. IMPLAN data show that the MSEP region produced about 61.1 percent of the Mississippi total nominal labor income in 2022.

The top ten industries which created the greatest value added in 2022 are shown below.

In IMPLAN, value added includes labor income, other property income, and taxes on production and imports. It is the difference between total output and the cost of its intermediate inputs.

The top 10 industries generated total nominal value added consisting of 28.7 percent of the regional total nominal value added in 2022.

Owner-occupied dwelling generated the largest nominal value added adding 7.1 percent to regional nominal value added.

Employment and payroll of local government education was the second top value added-generating 3.3 percent to regional nominal value added.

The third top industry consisted of employment and payroll of federal government, non-military contributing 2.9 percent to regional nominal value added.
